I had the pleasure of working with the newest addition to our team, Kristin, who also was a journalism major and has writing skills FAR surpassing my own – so for weddings she’s a part of she’ll be documenting the day in words – THANK you Kristin!!
“It was the perfect day for the perfect couple. Janet and Ryan wed in a beautiful, old Catholic Church in Chenoa, where they both grew up, met and fell in love many years ago. The traditional ceremony held true to their Catholic roots, and Mr. and Mrs. Murphy emerged with smiles reaching ear to ear, bubbles dancing around them and family cheering. Taking advantage of the wonderful late-afternoon light, Deidre photographed the two around the church and in the nearby downtown. After getting some great shots in several different spots, the two lovebirds boarded the party bus with the awaiting bridal party and headed to the reception.
After many winding roads through the beautiful autumn countryside (we weren’t complaining!), we finally arrived at the reception location on Lake Bloomington. What a wonderful venue! Deidre and I were convinced we were no longer in central Illinois, as the cornfields we’d just passed on the way there were replaced by a throng of old, majestic trees. The lake was calm and quiet, and as the sun dipped even lower towards the ground, a soft orange glow settled atop the water. Deidre and I snagged many more photos in different spots around the lake, one of which became a wedding first! As we passed at least six canoes on our way towards a small sandy shore, we couldn’t help but take one down to get some photos of the couple inside, especially once Janet mentioned that the two often go canoeing together – perfect! The lake and brightly-colored leaves of nearby trees were the perfect backdrop for some gorgeous photos of the newlyweds. And we sure got lucky with the weather! For being so late in October, and especially with the cold, rainy conditions earlier in the week, we were all blessed to witness a beautiful day for a couple who surely deserved it. Cheers to a lifetime of happiness ahead of them!”
