Travel : The North Woods

Wow – it has been 365 days since we took this little trip up to the Eagle River, WI area but I thought it was time to put up some pictures given it’s one year anniversary:)I actually don’t remember if I’ve posted these before and didn’t feel like reading through the whole years worth of blog to find out, so if you’ve seen these already- here they are again!
This is a place that I went as a child with my parents – it’s so remote and beautiful and full of wildlife; basically everything that I love. The cabin was completely rustic and has a huge stone fireplace that I believe was created to make smores in. There is no TV so at night we would read and it was beautiful. Everything is crisper and cleaner and the mosquitoes are bigger and there are LOONS. One thing that must be known about me (and now Brandon) is that we have an obsession with loons. That’s the bird with the red eyes and black and white markings. They have the most haunting call and when it echos over a still lake at night – magic. Seriously, look up loon calls or songs on itunes or amazon – so beautiful. So we stalked these guys all over the lake in our creaky row boat (we didn’t want to use the motor because the lake was super low and rocks all over = so scary) so Brandon rowed EVERYWHERE and his back hated him but it was worth it to get close to these creatures.

So now I’m sitting in the office on a gorgeous end of summer’s day loving the weather yet wishing to be back somewhere like this….or the mountains, even better:)

OMG – those cloud and sunset photos are AMAZING!! No, like stunning. I need to go look up loon sounds now too.
I have to say, you have really developed your own style. I can tell it is your work instantly. ;) You’re very consistent in your processing style and it really works.
